Bonus hunt spreadsheet vs tracker

A spreadsheet is fine for your first bonus hunt. A dedicated bonus hunt tracker is better once viewers need to follow along live, the break-even has to update itself on screen, or you want a record of every hunt. The difference is less about the maths than about who can see it.

What a spreadsheet does well

It is free, it is private, and you control every formula. A sheet with a column for the slot, the bet size and the win, plus one cell for the break-even, will run a hunt perfectly well.

The break-even cell is the start balance divided by the total of all the bet sizes. That is the average multiplier the bonuses need to pay to get the start balance back.

Where a spreadsheet stops working

The trouble starts on stream. Viewers can only see the sheet if you capture it, a cropped spreadsheet on an overlay is hard to read, and every slot name and result has to be typed by hand while chat waits. The live break-even for the bonuses still to open needs its own formula, and one wrong cell reference breaks the lot.

  • Viewers cannot follow it on their own phone
  • No slot artwork, studio or RTP without typing it in
  • Chat cannot ask a bot for the break-even
  • Every past hunt is a separate file

What a tracker adds

A tracker knows the slots already, works out the starting and live break-even as you type results, and pushes the table to an OBS overlay and a viewer page at the same time. The better ones also answer hunt questions in chat and keep every hunt as a record you can show a sponsor.

Free tracker or paid?

Several trackers are free and cover the basics well — CasinoHub, bonushunt.gg and SlotDecoded among them. A paid tool is worth it when the hunt is one part of running a channel: bots on Kick and Discord, a points store, giveaways, mods and sponsor reports. Our comparison of every bonus hunt tracker lists what each one covers and costs.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a bonus hunt spreadsheet template?

You can build one in a minute: columns for slot, bet size and win, plus a break-even cell that divides the start balance by the total of all bet sizes.

When should I switch from a spreadsheet to a tracker?

When viewers start asking for the list, when you want the hunt on your overlay, or when typing results by hand is slowing the opening down — usually within the first few hunts.

Do bonus hunt trackers work with OBS?

Yes. Trackers give you an overlay URL that you add to OBS as a browser source, and it updates live as you enter results.

Run this on your own stream

Streamneeds gives you the hunt tracker, the overlay and the bot in one place.
